Three different things, explained properly

339

Fixed and average-speed cameras

Installed at official locations. These are there every day, and each one has a published test certificate.

2,399

Roads approved for mobile cameras

Police may run a mobile speed, phone or seatbelt camera somewhere on these roads. Approved is not the same as present.

513

Monitoring, not enforcement

Traffic detectors, CityLink webcams and council CCTV. They watch or count traffic. They do not issue fines.

The lists change every month

Victoria updates its approved camera roads at the start of each month. On the 5th, EVADR checks the official lists and shows what was added and removed in your area. Next check: 5 November 2026.

Questions

Is this live? Does it show where police are right now?

No. EVADR shows official lists and installations. It never shows live police or camera positions, and an empty stretch of road is not an enforcement-free zone.

Where does the data come from?

Victorian Government camera feeds and monthly approved-location lists, Department of Transport and Planning datasets, council records and the CityLink operator. Every location links to its source. See every source.

Is it legal to look this up?

Yes. The Victorian Government publishes these lists so drivers know where cameras operate. EVADR puts them on one map and explains what each one means.

Can I use it while driving?

No. Victorian road rules do not let drivers touch a phone while driving. Check your roads before you leave.

Why is a camera I know about missing?

Some records do not have a position precise enough to map, and some cameras are not publicly listed. We only map what an official source documents. Tell us and we will look for a source.

How often is it updated?

Monthly. Victoria publishes new approved-location lists each month and EVADR checks them on the 5th. Next check: 5 November 2026.
